Addis Ababa, December 8, 2024 (EABC): A delegation led by Czech Republic Deputy Prime Minister, paid a visit to Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation (EABC) on December 8, 2024. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Marian Jurečka and his delegation visited the Corporation’s Farm Machinery Maintenance and Assembly Workshop as well as Spare Parts Warehouse. Mr. Marian Jurečka welcomed by Girma Amentie (PhD), Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of EABC’s Board of Directors along with management members of the Corporation. Following the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister discussed with Dr. Girma Amentie and the EABC team to explore potential partnership. During the discussion both parties conferred on ways strengthening ties between Ethiopia and Czech Republic as well as EABC and ZETOR, a Czech Republic Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer. Dr. Girma pointed out that following the relation of the two countries, the Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation has stregthened a business relationship with ZETOR manufacturing Company. And inline with the tractor, it now becomes a familiar brand in Ethiopia, he added. He also highlighted the significance of ZETOR tractors in advancing mechanization service and proposed the joint ZETOR tractor assembly plant to meet the growing demand for agricultural machinery in Ethiopia. The Deputy Prime Minister of Czech Republic, Mr.Marian Jurečka on his part emphasized the importance of agriculture, stating, “without agriculture, there is no food; without food, there is no future.” He vowed that the Czech Republic will continue to strengthen its support to modernize Ethiopia’s agricultural sector and improve its quality. The Deputy Prime Minister is also affirmed that the partnership could extend beyond delivering ZETOR tractors by providing harvesting machines and advanced improved seed technologies to EABC. “To this end, we work to make agricultural technologies accessible in Ethiopia”, he mentioned. The Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation CEO, Mr. Kifle Woldemariam on his part, announced that the Corporation has supplied 75 ZETOR tractors to Ethiopian farmers and investors, till now. The CEO also disclosed that EABC and ZETOR manufacturing Company have reached an agreement to assemble and distribute the tractors in Ethiopia. Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Miroslav Kosek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ethiopia and other senior officials from both sides attended the visiting and discussion program. It is worth noting that earlier, in February 2024, Mr. Peter Gandalovič, the Director of the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic along with the Czech Republic Ambassador to Ethiopia, visited EABC.
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated foreign currency to be used for the importation of DAP and Granular Urea soil fertilizer by eligible supplier.
The Ethiopian Agricultural Businesses Corporation (EABC), delegated by other domestic fertilizer importers, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of 611,158 METRIC TON Granular DAP (Di ammonium phosphate) soil fertilizer and 821,371 METRIC TON Granular Urea soil fertilizer to be delivered as per the delivery schedule specified section VI in the bid document.
The terms of purchase will read as FOB price
Bidders may bid for one or more or the entire lots specified in the bid document. Price will be negotiated and evaluated on lot-by-lot bases. Contract award for the respective lot will be on the basis of the lowest evaluated, responsive (including responsiveness to the specified delivery period, which is critical) and qualified bidder for that lot. This post qualification assessment also takes into consideration verifying whether the lowest evaluated and responsive bidder has indeed the capability to execute the subject lot together with other lots that it has succeeded to be the lowest evaluated and responsive bidder. If the lowest evaluated and responsive bidder for a lot does not fulfill the qualification requirements as discussed above, then the same post qualification assessment will continue for the second lowest evaluated and responsive bidder for that lot. If the second lowest evaluated and responsive bidder is not qualified, the assessment process continues with the third lowest evaluated and responsive bidder etc.

A complete set of bidding documents may be purchased by the interested eligible bidders upon payment of a non-refundable fee of 4,000 or equivalent in any freely convertible currency in Ethiopian bank.
The Bidder shall furnish in a separate envelop, as part of its bid, a unconditional counter guarantee by Ethiopian bank bid security in US dollars only equivalent to the amount of 0.5% of a total value of participated lots of Granular DAP and UREA soil fertilizer mentioning the corresponding lot number quoted in its bid.

Bids will be opened in the presence of bidder’s representation who choose to attend at 10:30 A.M. on December 23/2024 at the EABC Agricultural Inputs Supply Sector (AISS) assembly hall. Representatives should submit the letter of representation given by the supplier which should be stamped and sealed.
